Painting is a journey through life. I am learning all the time, both from the wonderful animals I have been fortunate enough to spend my life with, and from all those I have been in contact with through previous commissions for portraits.

I began my real love affair with painting at age eleven, when I entered a mainly adult art competition  and was awarded a special prize of a very smart box of oil paints for showing 'Hidden Talent'! This gave me the confidence, and the tools, to continue along the artistic road.  After marriage, two beautiful English Setters entered my life and dogs immediately took over. Since then, a collection of Terriers have ruled our household, providing an endless source of material for both painting and writing. 

I use mainly pastels for my portraits, the softness, texture and pure colour of this medium being so well suited to animal paintings. I also use oil paints, watercolour, gouache, pencil, pen and ink.
